Exercise and recreation are different and shouldn't be confused. A long walk or hike in the woods or a long bike tour can be very enjoyable and does afford the opportunity to get some low level exercise which is beneficial. You will also burn calories which helps you lose weight. However to be really beneficial exercise needs to be intense enough to get your heart rate up and cause you to breathe hard, but it does not need to be prolonged. Many people will spend an hour or more on the treadmill or stairclimber and never really breathe hard thinking they got a good workout when in truth they did not. |

Russian Kettlebells deliver extreme all-around fitness at the lowest cost and shortest time invested. Kettlebells replace most cardioequipment, all free weights, weighted bars, medicine balls, grip devices and parallel dip bars. Kettlebell training is aerobic weight lifting. They are also portable so you can take them on road trips. Train with Kettlebells to increase muscular strength and power and to hack away at excess body fat without having to do endless aerobic classes or run for miles daily. |

How to Stop and Reverse Muscle Loss Continued. In my last communication I told you about the value of high intensity exercise for short periods of time using sprint intervals such as Peak Eight. This kind of exercise activates the synthesis of protein and burns body fat much more efficiently than does moderate exercise for long periods of time. Three factors are at work here and they are: your body's production of Human Growth Hormone (HGH), Insulin Like Growth Factor-One (IGF-1), and Insulin; as well as your body's utilization of certain amino acids in your diet; and lastly mechanical overload produced by the exercise. |

Write your post here. How to Stop and Reverse Muscle Loss Due to Aging As we age we begin losing muscle mass every year past age 40 unless we take steps to prevent it. A sedentary life style, hormonal changes, and a diet high in processed foods are the causes of fat accumulation and muscle wasting. High intensity exercise is one of the best ways to halt muscle loss. Your body is equipped to respond to stress hunger, pain, and hardship and, when present, can trigger your anabolic capacity. |
